If there is a technology which transports you to the wizarding world of Harry Potter , I think you will be taken away by the fantastical magical world, flying brooms, shapeshifting people and likes but how soon will it take for you to get accustomed to the world around you and start feeling the drudgery of everyday life?
In other words – Will Harry from Harry Potter describe his life as boring? Not from us muggles point of view but what will his opinion of his world be, having lived significant years as a wizard?
In the world of Harry Potter, magic is so ingrained and commonplace for witches and wizards that they likely do not view many magical phenomena as particularly extraordinary or miraculous.
What then constitues a world which can be described as magical if even the magical universe can soon lose it’s charm and turn into a mundane world filled with life’s complexities?
Or perhaps, we are asking the wrong question, is our mundane world magical? Think about it.
Our modern inventions and scientific understanding would seem utterly magical and mind-boggling to someone from a much earlier era, like a 10th century peasant. Imagine trying to explain things like airplanes, computers, smartphones, modern medicine, and our understanding of the universe to someone from that time period. It would undoubtedly seem like incomprehensible sorcery or magic to them.
This highlights how what we consider “magical” is highly dependent on our frame of reference, level of understanding, and what we’re accustomed to in our experienced reality. The magical and the miraculously advanced are very much in the eye of the beholder based on their perspective and knowledge base.
Now, is your world mundane or magical ?
